MAUTO

MAUTO is the rebranding of the National Automobile Museum in Torino, one of the best in the world. It has a wonderful (massive) collection of cars and a very good library. In the recent Lambda fest in Torino (2022), we had a celebratory dinner there, and were able to walk around and see displays. A couple of weeks later, I went back, worked in the library but also was able to see some rarities in the basement. Some highlights are shown here. 

• D24 race car, possibly from Carrera Panamerica in 1953 -  Lancia took first three places in this very long and difficult race. 
• engines on display: a very rare Alpha, Beta and Lambda
• Aprilia LHD model - likely unique, neat to see. 
• Dilambda display chassis - just immaculate. From Pari show c. 1930
• Vincenzo's own Lambda
• Chiribiri chassis  - this  very advanced firm was right next door to Lancia, making aluminum DOHC racing engines c. 1915-1918. The chassis is from the 1920s. When they closed in 1927, Lancia absorbed their facilities. Very rare and very interesting.
